What a crazy few days i have had. It all started last week with the hype leading up to the Oscars. Banksy was up for best Documentary with ‘Exit through the Gift Shop’. Ironically Louise was heading to California for a holiday and hang out with friends. Sadly i couldnt go with her at the time. Then all of a sudden Banksy had hit LA in the build up to the Oscars and dropped two pieces on Sunset Blvd. The first was an in your face piece on a billboard……..
…sadly it only lasted less than 24hrs.
On Tuesday nite Louise surprised me by booking a flight for me to LA to hang for the week and see these in the flesh. Now thats what you call the ‘Best Fianee in the World!’
Then on the corner of La Cienega and Sunset Blvd was this cool Charlie Brown on a burnt out building…..
…but by the time i got there it looked like this…..
Here is what happened……
It was onto the next site after that which was his Crayola Gun Kid in Westwood. This was an easy find as there was a queue of people taking pics of it. It had been befeaced a few days before but was since cleaned.
With most of them now being destroyed or stolen it was time to move fast to the last location in Skid Row/Downtown LA area. This was the biggest piece he had done on a wall and probably one of my favourites of all. Its a foreclosure on a kids drwing of a house. Happily this was protected by perspex by the time i got to it. Sad thou as its probably for financial gain by the the building owners.
It was a great day running around La and i got to see places you would never usually see. I also got to see plenty of other work that i will post up later today.
