Last week i was lucky enough to visit the beautiful Island of Malta for the official launch of the Drift Allstars event happening in Malta in June (10th-12th). We had the official Press Conference with the organisers FM Promotions at the Corinthia Palace Hotel which is the event hotel. The venue was amazing with beautiful gardens and great staff. I look forward to returning.
In attendance we had one of the Maltese Ministers for Sport, the Maltese Motorsport Federation, Head of Maltese Tourism, George from Malta Drift Association(MDA), Adriam from FM Promotions and Team Maximum Lock. The local media where very interested in the event and this is a very exciting time for Malta as it will be the first International Motorsport event to hit the Island. The MDA are working on developing the first race track in the country so i wish them all the luck in the world.
The quality of cars in Malta is good. Some are not up to the safety level yet but getting there prior to the main event. It was great to chat with the local drivers and give them feedback on their cars and set ups. I think once the Drift Allstars drivers land they will be in heavy demand speaking with the locals. THis is what Drift Allstars is all about…helping the locals develop and improve.
The Tv crews where very keen to speak to all involved especially local drivers from Team Maximum Lock.
The event is being sponsored by ICE Watches so the lucky winners will be returning with some of these cool items…..
Adrian from FM Promotions speaking with the Head of Malta Motorsport Federation/FIA Represtitive. We all spoke about the new FIA Road Safety Campaign as this is something very close to my heart. we shared our experiences of dealing with different Road Safety Initiatives from all over Europe.
The following day we where on Smash Radio to speak about the event. Myself and George from MDA had great fun here. The radio show is also live on TV which made it very difficult to concentrate as people could see your every move with the cameras all around us while the interview took place. The interview lasted 26mins which for somebody like me who doesnt shut up was actually hard…lol.
After that we made our way to the TV Studio to film a 40min TV show about Drift Allstars which will Air the week before the main event. I was joined by Team Maximum Lock once again who spoke about their Live performance at the event. This will defo be something to be seen. With Hot Ladies, Fire Show and great driving. (Below is a blue screen studio which had clips running in the back showing footage from Drift Allstars events)
Team Maximum Lock and Dafuzz…hahahah sounds like an 80’s band name. What a great bunch of guys and girls. I look forward to hangin out with you again.
Ill finish by saying the hospitality i recieved from the Maltese public was awesome especially George and Adrian the organisers. Im gonna blog about the beauty of Malta in a seperate post as it deserves its own spotlight.
