CALIFORNIA CHRONICLES: PART 2

So here is Part 2 of my California adventure. As I mentioned in the first part my friend Dave brought me to some of his favourite trails around Laguna and Irvine. For the second spin we hit up El Moro which is just across the valley from the World famous ‘Telonics’ trail in Laguna. Its the trail that all the pro’s have been testing their 2012 machinery before the upcoming World Cup season.

The trail conditions where much the same as the day before….super fast and super dry. Once again I grabbed some GoPro footage to give you an idea of the fun I had.

After the spin we headed over to The Bicycle Company in Lake Forest so Dave could grab some bits for a bike build.

Id been to the shop a few times before and know the history behind it. Why is this shop so special? It is one of the leading MTB Shops in SoCal and looks after the bikes of some of the biggest Pro’s in the area including none other that BL55 or Brian Lopes as hes know to us. As soon as I walk in the door Im greeted by one of Lopes latest builds which includes the new X fusion forks and rear shock.

The Ibis Mojo looked the part and will no doubt see Lopes rippin up Enduro’s and Dh events this season. The shop is like a museum to Brian’s achievements and history…..

Including his Crankworx trophies….

Its not just Lopes that has stuff covering the walls of the store.

Barel’s jersey alongside the old Turner Team from the early 2000’s.

Needles from his Global days, Hans Rey and April Lawyer.

Mike King’s Haro jersey, Minaar’s Honda Tshirt and South Africa Jersey.

And an Atherton Special.

Later in the day I stopped by another few cool spots including the Oakley Factory to grab some bits.

It looks like something out of Stargate Tv show.

If this didnt keep you busy on your lunchbreak i dont know what is wrong with you.

What would a trip to California be without a visit to Troy Lee Designs. Troy has recently opened a new concept store in Laguna Beach and features some cool stuff on display including the Specialized Demo colab paintjob.

Ken Block Xgames helmet.

Jeremy ‘Showtime’ McGraths Monster Energy Helmet.

Overall it was a great trip and I cant wait to get back again in the future. Now back to normal service of riding in the snow and wet roots in Vancouver.
